Trading Rules Guide

Prop Firm Consistency Rules Compared (2026)

A consistency rule caps how much of your profit can come from a single trading day. Below is every major prop firm that enforces one — the exact limit, which plans and stages it applies to, and what happens if you exceed it — plus the firms that let you profit freely with no consistency requirement at all.

What Is a Consistency Rule?

A consistency rule limits the share of your total profit that can come from your single best trading day. It's the prop firm industry's defence against one-shot gambling: passing a challenge (or generating a payout) with one enormous, high-risk trade instead of a repeatable strategy.

The rule is almost always checked at payout or pass request, not in real time. Exceeding it is not a breach — your profit stays in the account. The payout is simply held until you add more distributed profitable days, diluting your best day's share of the total back under the limit.

Key nuances: some firms measure per payout cycle (resets after each reward — Alpha Trader Firm, OFP, FT+), while the rule may apply only when funded (FundingRock, E8, The Funded Way, TX3) or in both evaluation and funded stages (FT+ 2-Step Classic, PropXP, FXIFY Lightning). A "35%" rule can behave very differently between firms — check the stage, basis and reset terms, not just the headline number.

The Formula
(Best Day Profit ÷ Total Profit) × 100 ≤ Limit
Worked example — 35% rule
  • Total profit$10,000
  • Best single day$4,500
  • Best-day share45% — over the limit
  • FixAdd ~$2,900 spread over new days

No profit is removed — you just keep trading smaller until the ratio clears.

Firm-by-Firm Breakdown

Exactly how each firm calculates, checks and enforces its rule.

MyFundedCapital

Instant + funded stage (evaluation exempt)

15%

No single day's profit can exceed 15% of your account's total accumulated profit. Their worked example: $5,000 total profit means no single day above $750.

Applies to Instant Funding accounts and funded Challenge accounts — NOT during the evaluation phase. It's a fixed spec, not an add-on: MFC's add-on list (news trading, weekend holding, payout speed, splits) does not include any consistency toggle. The Prediction Market program (GooeyPro/PolyMarket) has no consistency rule.

FundingPips

Master / funded accounts

15% / 35%

Zero: your single best day must stay ≤15% of total profit — one of four payout conditions. 1-Step Flex: a 35% consistency score (plus 7 profitable days ≥0.5%) is required ONLY if you choose the Monthly 100% split cycle.

On Zero, the 15% score sits alongside 7 profitable days of ≥0.25% per rolling 30-day period, a first-3% safety cushion and a biggest-win ≥ biggest-loss condition. On 1-Step Flex (Master accounts purchased Aug 15, 2026 onward), the 85% bi-weekly default cycle has NO consistency rule — the 35% score is the price of the 100% monthly split, and the score + profitable days reset after every reward. Cycle choice is permanent once set.

Alpha Trader Firm

Funded accounts, per plan

15% / 20% / 30% / 35%

Formula: (Highest Single-Day Profit ÷ Total Realized Profit) × 100. Thresholds: Pay Later funded 15%, Instant 20%, 2-Step Legacy funded 30% (effective 4 Sept 2026), 1-Step funded 35%. 2-Step Standard, 2-Step PRO, 1-Step Lite and Instant PRO: no consistency requirement.

Checked before withdrawals — a payout is held until the score clears the plan's threshold. Once a payout is approved, the score resets. Alpha's own help centre publishes the full per-plan table (updated Sept 2026), making it one of the most transparent consistency policies in the industry.

FundingRock

Funded (simulated live) stage only

15% / 20% / 30%

The Consistency Rule does not apply during any FundingRock evaluation. On the funded account: Pay After You Pass 15%, Instant 20%, 1-Step and 2-Step 30%.

Exceeding the cap is not a breach — you keep trading until your best day falls back under the limit, and you cannot submit a Reward Request until it's met. The exact percentage for your plan is shown in the program guide and dashboard. Official help centre, verified Sept 2026.

Blue Guardian

Instant funding accounts (2-Step challenges: none)

15% / 20%

On Instant Starter, one trading day cannot be ≥15% of total profits; on Instant Standard the cap is 20%. The 2-Step challenge phases have no consistency rule.

Blue Guardian's instant accounts pair the best-day cap with Guardian Shield (auto-close at 1% floating loss) — protection that makes the consistency requirement easier to live with, since outsized single-day risk is already mechanically limited.

Think Capital

Bolt accounts — other plans: none

20%

Official FAQ: "Bolt accounts are subject to a 20% Consistency Rule. Your single best trading day's profit cannot exceed 20% of your total overall profits."

The rule sits only on the Bolt instant-funding plan. Lightning, Dual Step Intraday, Dual Step Swing and Nexus carry no best-day consistency requirement — Bolt buyers trade the strictest rule set at ThinkCapital (stricter drawdown, no weekend trading, and this 20% cap).

FXIFY

Lightning: Challenge AND Live stages · Instant Lite: funded

20% / 30%

Instant Funding Lite: "the trading day with the biggest profit... should not be more than 1/5 of the total profit" (20%). Lightning Plan: a 30% consistency rule that applies in BOTH the Challenge and Live stages.

Two of FXIFY's most popular plans carry consistency caps — the only place FXIFY has them. Their standard 2-Step and other programs have no consistency rule. If you bought a Lightning plan, remember the rule is already active during the challenge, not just once funded.

Maven Trading

MAVEN Instant only — 1/2/3-Step challenges: none

20%

Per their T&C: "MAVEN INSTANT requires a 20% consistency score and a 3% minimum profit to be eligible for a withdrawal."

Their FAQ also publishes a per-trade version — "largest winning trade / total profit... must be less than 15% to get a payout" — associated with the Mini program. Standard 1-Step, 2-Step and 3-Step challenges list "Consistency score: No" on the official program pages.

OFP

Funded instant accounts

25%

OFP's "Inconsistency Score" = (Best Trading Day Profit ÷ Total Profit) × 100, measured from challenge creation or your last approved payout. The threshold is set per account — their T&C cites 20% as the example, and the Instant Classic plan (the only current plan carrying the rule) publishes 25%.

Only closed positions count, aggregated per trading day; losing days count as zero. Exceed the score and you're not entitled to a payout even if every other rule was respected. The score resets every time a payout is achieved. The Instant PRO variant has no Inconsistency Score at all.

SpiceProp

Funded accounts

30%

Official Q&A: "Max Profit Day ÷ Total Profit = Consistency Ratio. If the result is higher than 0.30 (30%), the consistency rule isn't met yet."

The C-Score is one of five payout requirements (alongside risk management, prohibited techniques, account integrity and general compliance). Their T&C adds a lot-size consistency range on top: only trades within 0.7x–1.3x of your current average lot size are permitted.

Funded Trading Plus

2-Step Classic accounts (1-Step Express & Instant: none)

35% / 50%

35% consistency applies to BOTH challenge steps (net profit from closed positions; you cannot pass a step until it's met), and 50% on the funded stage per payout period.

On the funded account, no single day's net profit may exceed 50% of total net profit in the current payout period (since funding or last payout). The score resets after each payout, is monitored automatically in the FT+ dashboard, and gates both payouts and scaling requests. Official help centre, verified Sept 2026.

The Funded Way

Funded accounts only — never during challenge phases

20% / 40%

Help centre (updated Aug 7, 2026): 40% on funded StarterWay, StraightWay and SwiftWay accounts — "Your best trading day can represent up to 40% of total profits during a payout cycle." RapidWay is stricter: 20% on the instant funded account.

Explicitly a soft rule per their own article: "Your account will NOT be breached if the rule is exceeded. You simply continue trading until the requirement is naturally met before requesting a payout." PRO accounts (Pro Way, Swift PRO, Rapid PRO, Prime) are marked "Does NOT apply" — the Free-mode plans buy their way out of consistency entirely.

PropXP

Challenge and instant accounts

40% / 20%

Best-day cap is 40% on the 1-Step and 2-Step challenges and 20% on Instant Funding accounts — stricter on instant capital, the reverse of most firms.

Instant traders also need 5 profitable days of ≥0.5% each before their first reward, so distributed profits are essential from day one. Challenge traders get the more forgiving 40% cap.

IcFunded

1-Step Accelerated evaluation + Instant Funded

45% / 20%

On the 1-Step Accelerated evaluation, no single trading day may represent more than 45% of total evaluation profit. The Instant Funded program card on IcFunded's homepage lists a 20% consistency rule.

The 45% is a soft rule with a twist: exceed it and the excess is ADDED TO YOUR PROFIT TARGET rather than failing the account — you trade more to make up the difference (a risk review can follow). The 2-Step Professional programme and the funded stage of challenge accounts have no consistency rule.

Tradexprop

Forex evaluation and funded — crypto/instant: none

45%

No single trading day may exceed 45% of total profit on Forex accounts.

Scope matters: the rule applies to Forex evaluations on post-April 2025 plans. Crypto accounts and the Instant Funded X program carry no consistency rule. Tradexprop pairs its forgiving 8% static drawdown with one of the loosest caps among firms that enforce a rule — 45% still allows a dominant day, just not a one-shot pass.

Evercrest Funding

2-Step evaluation

45%

Evercrest's official Two Step launch announcement lists a 45% consistency rule with 3 minimum profitable days per phase. Their Instant Funding accounts are marketed with "zero consistency rule".

If you want Evercrest capital without a best-day cap, their Instant Funding (and Static Instant) products are the consistent-trade-free path — the 2-Step evaluation is where the 45% applies.

E8 Markets

Funded / performance stage only — no consistency in challenges

35% / 40%

E8 Signature: 35% Best Day Rule. E8 One: 40% Best Day Rule. Both apply only in the performance (funded) stage — there is no consistency rule in any SimFi challenge stage. E8 Pro: none.

E8's help centre is explicit: no consistency rule in the SimFi Challenge stage for any CFD product. The Best Day Rule becomes a payout requirement once funded — E8 Pro keeps rules deliberately simple and carries no best-day cap at all. Caveat: E8 Zero (their futures product) applies a 40% best-day rule in the challenge stage itself.

TX3 Funding Fx

Funded stage only (all challenge programs)

20%–50%

TX3's threshold depends on funded account SIZE. Pro Challenge: $50K and below 40%, $100K 30%, $200K 25%, $300K 20%. 1 Phase: 50%. Starter plan: 40% plus 5 winning days before payout.

Formula per their help centre: (Highest Day Profit ÷ Total Profit) × 100. Exceeding is not a fail — "You must continue trading until your profit distribution falls back below" the threshold. The rule stays active even in drawdown, measured from the initial balance.

The5ers

Futures evaluation AND funded · CFD programs: none

40%

"The5ers Futures has a 40% consistency rule, which means a single trade can't account for more than 40% of your total profits" — a per-TRADE cap, not a best-day cap, applying to evaluation and funded accounts.

Only the Futures program carries it. The CFD programs (High Stakes, Hyper Growth, Bootcamp) have no consistency rule — High Stakes traders spread profits by choice, not by requirement.

FundedNext

Futures funded only — all CFD/Stellar plans: none

40%

On Futures funded accounts: "a trader's highest single-day profit must be 40% or less of the total profit to become eligible for withdrawal" (Rapid FundedNext Account and Rapid Pro FundedNext Account).

Every CFD/Stellar plan — the vast majority of FundedNext's business — has no consistency rule. And don't confuse this with the News Reward Share rule (40% split on news-window profits): one is a best-day cap on Futures, the other a news-trading policy on CFD funded accounts.

TradingFunds (FTUK)

Futures sim (funded-stage) accounts · CFD programs: none

20% / 25%

Consistency Score = (Biggest Winning Day ÷ Current Total Account Profit) × 100. Targets by program: One Step Evaluation: None; One Step Sim: 25%; Instant Sim: 20%.

Applies to their futures programs only — the trader "must continue trading until the score falls below" the target before payout. All CFD programs (One-Step, Two-Step, Instant, Flex) publish no consistency rule.

TTT Markets

1-Step evaluation · 2-Step: none

14-day / lot-based

TTT's 1-Step consistency rules are threefold: lot sizes must stay within max 200% above / min 25% below your average; no singular trade should make up the majority of profits; and profits must be generated across 14 separate trading days.

Official help centre: "TTT Markets has no consistency rules on the 2-Step accounts." The 1-Step model substitutes classic best-day percentages for lot-size discipline and a distribution window — the 14-day requirement effectively demands a month of active, steady trading.

Firms With NO Consistency Rule — Any Plan, Any Stage

These firms publish no best-day, best-trade or profit-distribution requirement on any plan (as of September 2026). If you trade strong, session-based strategies — news spikes, swing holds, low-frequency setups — these are your safest options.

Audacity Capital previously enforced a rule and now banners "No Consistency Rule anymore". FTMO's 1-Step carries a soft 50% Best Day guideline (see Special Cases). Finotive's PRO (live personal) accounts carry activity-consistency requirements — their challenge plans advertise "No Consistency Requirement".

Special Cases & Similar-Sounding Rules

FTMO — 1-Step "Best Day"

FTMO's standard 2-Step has no consistency rule. Its 1-Step challenge applies a 50% Best Day Rule — a soft guideline, not a breach. If your best day exceeds 50% of profit, FTMO may review the account rather than deny you automatically.

FundedNext — NOT a Consistency Rule (on CFD plans)

FundedNext's CFD "40%" figure is a News Reward Share rule — trades opened within 5 minutes of high-impact news have their share reduced on funded accounts. The firm's only real consistency rule is the 40% best-day cap on Futures Rapid/Rapid Pro funded accounts. Don't confuse the two.

FundingPips — Profit Concentration Policy

Not a best-day rule but a per-trade one: if a single trade idea exceeds 60% of a phase's profit target during evaluation (accounts created June 27, 2026 onward — all sizes on 1-Step Flex, $25K+ on 2-Step models), the Master account permanently requires 4 profitable days of ≥0.5% before each reward. Zero accounts are exempt.

Finotive — PRO Account Activity Consistency

All Finotive challenge plans advertise "No Consistency Requirement" — no best-day caps. But their PRO (live personal) accounts carry activity-consistency requirements: after 30 days, weekly trade quantity and volume must stay within ±25% of your average. Different beast from a best-day cap — it measures how OFTEN you trade, not how much one day earns.

How to Stay Compliant

Know your ceiling before you trade

Work backwards from the limit: with a 35% rule and an 8% Phase-1 target, your best day should stay under roughly 2.8% account growth. Plan position sizes accordingly.

Spread size, don't cap profit

Consistency rules never limit how much you earn — only how concentrated the earning is. Hitting the same target across 4–5 sessions is faster in practice, because you avoid payout-blocking dilution days.

Track the ratio after every session

Log best-day ÷ total-profit after each trading day. If the ratio drifts above the limit, trade smaller profitable days until it normalizes — your existing profit is not lost.

Check the reset, stage and basis terms

The same '35%' can mean per-payout-cycle (resets after each reward — forgiving) or lifetime realized profit (never resets — strict), and may apply in evaluation, funded, or both: FundingRock and E8 enforce it only when funded, FT+'s 2-Step enforces it in both stages, TX3 scales the threshold by account size. Always read all three terms, not just the headline number.

Consistency Rule FAQ

Almost never. At nearly every firm on this page, exceeding the cap is a payout gate, not an account violation — your profit stays in the account and the payout is held until the ratio falls back under the limit. OFP words it most bluntly: you're "not entitled to request a payout" while over the score. The one different mechanic: IcFunded's 1-Step Accelerated adds the excess above 45% to your profit target instead — you keep trading, just for a bigger number.
